The funeral service for Clarence “Pop” Thomas will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Magnolia Baptist Church, 415 Hosie Waters Street, Montezuma, Georgia, where Reverend Hosie Waters is pastor.  Reverend Coley Clark, Jr., pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

A Time to Be Born
My life began February 19, 1924. I was born to the late Mary Lee McClendon and Tom Thomas in Dooly County, GA. I was raised on a farm by my grandparents, the late Levi and Henrietta McClendon. As a young child, my grandparents instilled in me the importance of trusting in the Lord. They exemplified what it meant to be committed to family; and I strived every day to show this same level of commitment to my own family.

At an early age, I accepted Christ as my personal savior. I joined Zion Grove Baptist Church where in 1966 I became an ordained Deacon. Any one will tell you that I love the Lord and Zion Grove Baptist Church where I later became Chairman of the Deacon Board.

In 1942, I married the late Ossie Lee Tookes Thomas. From this union, there were 6 children: Mattie, Willie, Olivia, Mary, Joe and Gloria. After many years of dedication, I retired from Robins Air Force Base. For several years, my children and I owned and operated Thomas and Children (T&C) Family Restaurant of Montezuma, GA.

Later, I joined hands in marriage to Rosa Lee Hobes Thomas and from this union I inherited six more children: Rosa, Albert, Willie, James, Debra, and Ronnie. My strongest desire has always been that my family would stick together and take care of each other and so far, they have done an awesome job.

A Time to Die
In accordance with God’s plan, on February 14, 2015 my earthly life ended and my heavenly life began. As I transitioned, I was surrounded by my family. I can assure you, I have lived a blessed life. I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. For me, there are no more nights that will turn into days, but I live on in the hearts of each of you.

I leave a legacy of golden memories to my wife Rosa Hobes Thomas, Montezuma, GA, my devoted children: Mattie Walters (Greene, deceased), Akron, OH, Willie Thomas (Louise, deceased), Montezuma, GA, Olivia Cochran (Eddie, Sr.), Montezuma, GA, Mary Davis (Bobby), Montezuma, GA, Joe Thomas (Helen), Oglethorpe, GA, Gloria Thomas, Montezuma, GA, Willie D. Hobes (Mattie), Greensboro, GA, Rosa Hobes Fox, Washington D.C., Albert Hobes (Lanett) Buffalo, NY, James Hobes Jr., Debra Hobes, and Ronnie Hobes all of Montezuma, GA, 37 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dearest Joe Henry and Helen,
Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.
I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.
Say not in grief 'he is no more' but in thankfulness that he was.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Your cousins,
The Brown, Freeman and Forehand family

My prayers are to Mrs. Rosa Lee, sons, daughters, & grandchildren. I am truly going to miss Pop, but I know that God never makes a mistake! He was definitely a man after God's own heart, and he was a blessing to me and I'm sure to everyone that crossed his path! Rest on my friend, I will love and miss him dearly!

Our condolences to the family. The loss of a love one can be extremely difficult to cope with. Please find comfort in the promise found there at Acts 24:15. There we read about the Resurrection. By means of it our loving father (ps.83:18) son (John3:16) we will see our love one again.please embrace that wonderful Hope as promised by God.(Titus 1:2)..Mary Ann
