​Clarence Johnson Jr., age 55, passed on December 11, 2020.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 154 Baldwin Street S.E., Dawson, Georgia.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.

Graveside services are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.​

Clarence Johnson Jr. was born September 30, 1965 in Dawson, Georgia to the late Clarence Johnson Sr. and the late Willie Mae Collier.  He was preceded in death by one brother Michael Collier. He was educated in the public  school system of Terrell County  and was a graduate of Terrell County High School.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Governor Gibson. Clarence was employed with the Department  of Juvenile  Justice as a Sergeant.  On September 29, 2000 two hearts became one when he was joined in holy matrimony to Cassandra Worthy.  Clarence had many hobbies; he loved weight lifting, cars, cooking, and talking with family and friends. Being a lover of cars he was a member ATA Performx, mustang car club in Plains, Ga. He was a member of the Masonic Herman Lodge #291 in Oglethorpe, Georgia. He will be forever remembered by family as friends as being someone you could call upon at any time; he never met a stranger.  
 
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Cassandra Johnson; three children, Cordarell Johnson (Azalia Hall),  Alexandria Johnson (Johnny Davis), and Sgt. Denson Heard III; a god daughter who was reared as his own Zykemmia Brown; two godsons, Jordin Solomon and Isaiah Perkins; four grandchildren, Shy’nestie Johnson, twins Zy’kevien and Zy’kavien Davis, and Tybrianna Felton; siblings, Clovis Collier, Mary Collier Walton (David), David Owens, Calvin Owens (Lasonya), Alex Owen Sr. (Ruby), Philip Collier, Tyrone Johnson, Cassandra Johnson, and Sharon Johnson; sisters/brothers-in-law, Vanessa Raines (Kenny), Terrial Fields (Eric), Joshua Stewart (Lisa), Stashia Stewart, Eugene Turner (Mae Dodson), Roy Turner (Jackie); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends especially Thad Hall, Jim Tolbert, Tristan Cephus, and Christopher Brown.

Red Dawg was a former co worker of mine at Sumter YDC. He was awesome in his job. He gave and got respect. He taught me how to survive in a detention setting. He always said, handle these youth just like the normal youth that they are. I loved Red Dawg!
