The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Nazarene Church of Jesus Christ COGIC, 2286 Pineville Road, Buena Vista, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Buena Vista City Cemetery, Buena Vista, Georgia with full military honors.
Clarence Elbert Phillips, Jr., better known as “Bro Bro,” was born October 18, 1970 to Crystal Ann Sales Gilder and the late Clarence Phillips, Sr. in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia. Clarence received his Christian training in the local churches. He was educated in the public school system of Marion County and a 1989 graduate of Tri-County High School. Clarence was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1992. His tour of duty was served during the Desert Storm Crisis. Clarence was a member of the Greater Faith Ministries. He was employed at various jobs, which included Tyson Foods in the maintenance department, King Custom, AAA, and T & R.
He was married to the former Shanita Chaney. To this union, they were blessed with three children. Two children, Roderick and Raheem, preceded him in death. Clarence was a dedicated member of the BVR Motorcycle Club; dedicated Coach for the Buena Vista Recreational Department; and a member of the American Legion Post #309.
Survivors are a beloved wife of ten years, Shanita Chaney Phillips, Buena Vista, Georgia; one son, Carmello Phillips, Buena Vista, Georgia; mother, Crystal Gilder, Buena Vista, Georgia; stepfather, Roosevelt Gilder, Buena Vista, Georgia; three siblings, Kim McKenzie (Steve), Tasha Chinn, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, and Tenisia Willis (Roderick), Waverly Hall, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Bobbie McKinney, Annie Rose Walton, Annita Wimbush (Elem), all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Ozella Walton (Willie), Columbus, Georgia, Hawaiian Sales, Jr., Buena Vista, Georgia; great aunt and great uncle, Kenneth Beckford, Greenville, South Carolina and Lucille Braswell, Cuthbert, Georgia; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hosie Chaney (Ann), Bronwood, Georgia and Darlene Andrews (Jessie), Preston, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Donzella Brown, Preston, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Robert McKenzie, Jr. (Chasity Burton), Dayterious Chinn, Robyn Willis, Rachel Willis, Sage Davis, Riana McKenzie, Rashaud McKenzie, Donyanyse Terry, Jazmine Terry, Kelsey Terry, Kyrie Geddis, and Imani Jones; a host of other relatives and friends, including two devoted friends, Milton Minter and Robert Fudge.
