The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Union Hill A.M.E. Church, Will Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia. The Reverend Jeff Davis, III will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Conner Mill Road, Ellaville, Georgia.
Christine was born April 18, 1927 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Rudolph Jackson and Arrice Shipp Jackson. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Neppie Thompson and James Jackson. She was married to the late Morris Terry, and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Kathy.
Christine confessed and followed her spiritual training and joined the band of Christian believers at Union Hill A.M.E. Church of Ellaville, Georgia. Her dedication to God and her family took precedent over everything else. She was secretary of the Missionary Society, Sunday school teacher, Stewardess Board Member, Layperson of the Dublin and Columbus Circuits, and a retired Teacher Association.
Being a concerned citizen of her community, she served as a city councilwoman for several years. She was a member of the Ellaville Light OES, in which she served in various capacities.
She was a 1939 graduate of Ellaville High School and a 1943 graduate of Ft. Valley State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood. Later, she acquired her certification in Special Education. After thirty-eight years of dedicated services in the field of education, she retired in 1983.
She leaves a legacy of love and memories to her beloved family, which include the following: a loving daughter, Kathy Terry Lucas, Ellaville, Georgia; two grandsons, Curtis Lucas, III, Atlanta, Georgia and Daringer Morris Lucas, Lawrenceville, Georgia; one great grandson, Tyson Jahmir Lucas, Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Marian Kea, Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law, Barbara Jackson, Columbus, Georgia; four nieces and three nephews; and a host of beloved relatives, friends and her Christian Family.
