The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Quebec Baptist Church, 3931 Georgia Highway 26 West, Ellaville, Georgia. The Reverend John Henry Hollis, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Hope Well Cemetery, Hopewell Road, Ellaville, Georgia.
Mrs. Catherine Minter King, was born June 20, 1936 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late Mercer Minter, Sr. and Paulene Bryant Minter. Born in a family of fourteen siblings, she was preceded in death by nine, Carrie Lee Volley, Dollie Mae Cauley, Ocenia Minter, Mary Kate Monford, Louvine White, Mercer Minter, Jr., Eddie Lewis Minter, John Minter and Willie Lee Minter. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County. She was united in holy matrimony to the late James Henry “Flat” King, whereas she was blessed to be the mother of twelve children, one son preceded her in death, Henry James “Doc” King. At an early age Catherine joined the band of Christian believers at Quebec Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Deaconess Board, treasure of the poor saint committee and kitchen committee. Catherine was very devoted to Quebec Baptist Church, the church she loved so well.
She leaves a legacy of loved and memories to her beloved family, which includes eleven children, Dianne Warren, Americus, Georgia, Ronnie King (Vivian), Ellaville, Georgia, Gail King, Lithonia, Georgia, Linda King, Atlanta, Georgia, Viola King (Edward Smith), Americus, Georgia, Tony King, Jacksonville, Florida, Ben King (Mary), Vienna, Georgia, Leslie Cole (Ronnie), Americus, Georgia, David King, (Chasity), Americus, Georgia Annie Pearl Stroud, Columbus, Georgia and Mary King, Delaware; twenty four grandchildren including several devoted, Faye King, Mathew King and Kent King; twenty eight great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren; four siblings, Myrtice McClendon (Al) Brooklyn, New York, Annie Kate Solomon, Brooklyn, New York, Michael, Atlanta, Georgia and Albert Minter, Lithonia, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
OUR MEMORIES BUILD A SPECIAL BRIDGE WHEN LOVED ONES HAVE TO PART TO HELP US FEEL WE'RE WITH THEM STILL AND SOOTHE A GRIEVING HEART. THEY SPAN THE YEARS AND WARM OUR LIVES PRESERING TIES THAT BIND.
