Mrs. Catherine C. Murray, age 69, 1027 Georgia Highway 26 East, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Magnolia Manor, Marion County, Georgia in the loving surrounding of her beloved family.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 121 East Bridges Street, Buena Vista, Georgia, where Rev. Poole is pastor. Rev. Angienette Coppins Damiani, pastor of the Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church, Buena Vista, Georgia will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Union Hill A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Spivey Street, Ellaville, Georgia.

Catherine was born on March 25, 1948 in Ellaville, Schley County to the late Una B. Storey Hickey and the late James Collins.  She was the youngest of two children; a brother, Bennie K. Murray, preceded her in death. Catherine was raised in the home by her grandparents, the late Bennie and Eva Storey, along with their seven children - four girls, Una B, Ella Pearl, Irene, and Eva Mae, and three boys Robert Lee, Leonard, and Frank. Catherine was a 1966 graduate from John Lewis High School in Ellaville, Georgia where she graduated with honors.  Being raised in a Christian home she joined Union Hill A.M.E. Church at an early age in Ellaville, Georgia. She was united in holy matrimony to Hudson Murray in June 1976.  She later joined Bethel A.M.E. Church, Buena Vista, Georgia.  She served as a church secretary, stewardess board, secretary missionary board, and supported all facets of the church she loved so well.

She was employed by the Schley County Board of Education as teacher assistant and a Head start teacher in Buena Vista, Georgia with West Center Georgia CAC and Southwest Georgia of Buena Vista, Georgia .  She took classes at Albany State University and Tuskegee where she received her CDA.  Catherine was one of the first teachers to start Tri-County Head Start. She was employed by Home Interior as a Interior Decorator.  Catherine was a caring person who shared her love and inspired others to greater heights in life.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband of forty-one years, Hudson Murray, Buena Vista, Georgia; four children, Anthony T. Collins (Mary Ann), New Port News, Virginia, Tonya Hall (Christopher), Buena Vista, Georgia, Kedrix Murray, (Staci), Douglassville, Georgia, and Deceithia Murrary McCreary, Jonesboro, Georgia; grandchildren, Terrance Collins, Tiara Hall, Tenia Hall, Breanna  Collins, Davanna Small, Vyani Murray, Eycis Murray, Kesiya Murray, Kiari Murrary, Kace Murrary, Cameron Bookman and Demetrius McCreary; great grandchildren, Xander McCreary and Jakhyia Hall; aunts and uncles, Ella Pearl Williamson, Ellaville, Georgia, Irene Storey Edge (E.J.), Ellaville, Georgia, Eva Mae Stephenson, Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Lee Storey, Clarksville, Tennessee, and Frank Storey, Atlanta, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David Murray (Rethe), Cleveland, Ohio, Mable Murray Johnson (Ernest) Cleveland, Ohio, Willie Murray (Velma), Decatur, Georgia, Otis Murrary (Fannie), Vera Murray all of Buena Vista, Georgia and Lenora Murray, Ft. My deepest sympathies to my neighbor of over 4 decades! It was such a joy and blessing growing up next door to Catherine. I can recall always walking to the "fence". She was such a wonderful, caring, and giving person. To Hudson and the kids, I know she will be truly missed. May God's strength keep you during these times. With love,
Kent

No matter what your trials are, or how big your mountain seems; The Lord is there to see you through; He'll go to all extremes.....
To Tonya, and to the entire family just know that God is bigger than anything that you can think, or even imagine!
We, the Tri-County High class of 1986 embrace the family because all of us have a common bond that will connect us for the rest of our lives. We cannot replace Mrs. Catherine Murray, but will attempt to demonstrate her love for you. We know your loss is deep and your sorrow is great, but we want you to know that we share in your sorrow, but more importantly, we recognize that this loss is Heaven's Gain. We love you, and we are here for you! TCHS CLASS OF 1986

To The Family, At Job 14:14, Job asked the question, "If a man dies, can he live again?..." He answers that question in verse 15, "You (Jehovah) will call and I will answer you." Job had confidence in the resurrection hope and we can too (John 5: 28,29). Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Jesus brings this point out at John 11:25. We can be thankful that Almighty God has given Jesus the authority to bring our dear loved ones back from the grave. Please allow the resurrection hope to comfort you.

I am sorry you all have suffered the loss of your loved one, please have faith in God. By meditating on God’s promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going throughout your grief. "For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus."—1 Thessalonians 4:14

I am very sorry for your loss. May your loving memories of Catherine and your trust in Almighty God bring you comfort during this difficult time. (Prov. 3:5, 6; Psalm 83:18) May the hope of a resurrection right here on a restored earth bring you peace. (Acts 24:15; Psalm 37:11, 29)
