Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Colonel Felton Cemetery, Marshallville, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Billy Harris was born October 25, 1950 in Marshallville, Georgia to the late Jessie Harris Sr. and Eva Lou Oglesby Harris. “Big Bill” as he was known by family and friends was preceded in death by two brothers Eddie James Harris and Jessie Harris Jr. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. Bill worked as a farmer with Tom Turner Farms. On October 23, 2010, two hearts became one when he was joined in holy matrimony to Sarah Walters.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife Sarah Harris, Marshallville, GA; four children, Bernice Rumph, Kathleen, GA, Bill Draines (Eunice), Warner Robins, GA, Anvenitra Colbert, Fort Valley, GA and Randy Colbert Sr, Warner Robins, GA; ten grandchildren, Kierra (Ryan), Quaneshia, K’Shon, Sierra (Akeem), E’leasea, Tarek, Malik, Sannitra, Randy Jr., and Quron; five great grandchildren, Jakalyn, Jessiah, Jah'Ryah, Asirais and Ava; seven stepchildren, Richard Johnson (Shelia), Hartford, CT, Freddie Johnson (Marie), Hartford, CT, Betty Newkirk, Marshallville, GA, Christine Smith, Hartford, CT, Erica Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Tywon Johnson all of Marshallville, GA; a host of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; four siblings, Chester Harris, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Tommie Harris (Francis), Hinesville, Georgia, Alfred Harris (Connie), Warner Robins, Georgia, and Brenda Bottom (Sam), Marshallville, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosetta Harris, Rosa L. Butler, Cornelius Livingston, Peggy Walters, Ella Sullins, Barbara McKellar, Linda Walters, Jeanette Harris (Leon), Josie Thomas (Keith), Yvonne Bryant, Harvey Walters, Charlie Walters (Sharon), and Dennis Walters, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including Wallace Jackson.
