Bettye Jean Morgan, age 68, passed on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 415 Cotton Avenue, Americus, Georgia. Bishop Melvin McCluster, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 260 W Allen Street, Leslie, Georgia.

Bettye Jean Wilson-Morgan was born August 1, 1950 in Leslie, Sumter County, Georgia to the late Gertrude Girven-Wilson and the late Willie Wilson, Sr.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Wilson and David Wilson (and his wife, Chermon).  She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County where she was a graduate of Union High School of Leslie, Georgia.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the fellowship of Zion Hill Baptist Church during her youthful life.  In later years she has a new awakening in her Christian life and joined the band of Christian believers at Friendship Baptist Church of Americus, Georgia.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mathew Morgan, and they moved to Tampa, Florida.   After many years as a domestic worker, she retired and moved back home where she resided until her demise. To know her was to love her.  She was a very sweet person and full of laughter.  She will be truly missed by her family and friends.  She will always be remembered for her warm sense of humor and precious smile.

Survivors include her loving and devoted family: two siblings, Willlie Wilson, Jr. (Cowanda), and Rosa Elaine McClary (Oliver),  both of Leslie, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Annie Maude Daniels, James L. Wilson, Minnie Estella Howard, Henry Howard, and Reba Wilson; nieces and nephews, Shankeia Wilson, Atlanta,Georgia, Earnest Floyd (Jessica), Kimberly Wilson, both of Americus, Georgia, Michael Floyd, New York, City, Steven Floyd, Valdosta, Georgia, Shantressa Wilson,  Amercus, Georgia, Tharon McClary, Keywata McClary, both of Leslie, Georgia, and Quanterious Wilson, Albany, Georgia; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends.
