Bessie Lloyd Mallard

Mrs. Bessie Clara Lloyd Mallard, age 96, passed Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center, Montezuma, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Second Salem Baptist Church, Travelers Rest Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Champ Waters Cemetery, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Alfred Wynn will officiate.

Bessie Clara Lloyd Mallard was born May 19, 1916 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late Mattie Lou Lloyd and Jessie Persons. She was preceded in death by two children, Shirley Lloyd and Samuel Lloyd. She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Rosie Lee Hall Taylor and Aaron Lloyd.

At an early age Bessie Clara joined the Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church of the New York Community, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Later she moved to Montezuma, Georgia and joined Second Salem Baptist Church. Bessie was united in holy matrimony to the late Clovis Mallard. She was blessed to be the mother of five children, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-eight great grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved children and their spouses, Mr. And Mrs. Freddie (Carolyn) Mallard, Mr. And Mrs. Eliza (Thomas) Sanders, all of Montezuma, Georgia and Elsie Martin, Warner Robins, Georgia; her beloved sister Dorothy Beal, Montezuma, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, Ronnie Lloyd, William (Lisa) Lloyd, Kelvin (Yvette) Lloyd, Jeffery Smith, Tameka (Wesley) Smith, Roderick Allen, Eric Chastine, Marica (Greg) Perry, Torrey (Rhonda) Allen, Latinia (Timothy) Hubbard and Kendelyn Martin: twenty-eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
