The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 16, 2016 at New Hope Baptist Church, 25 New Hope Road, Holy Trinity, Alabama. Pastor H.C. McGruder will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
Bertha was born on February 1, 1943 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late George Royal and Bertha Chapman Royal. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vera Sneed Thomas, and two brothers, Robert Royal and Johnny Royal. She was educated in the public school system of Marion County and was a 1960 graduate of Marion County High School in Buena Vista, Georgia. She was member of New Hope Baptist Church in Holy Trinity, Alabama where she served on the Usher Board until her health began to decline. Over the years she was employed with Tom Foods and St. Joseph School as a Custodian. For several years, she owned and operated an Antique Shop in Buena Vista, Georgia.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Willie Sneed Sr., and to this union three children were born.
She leaves a lifetime of memories to her two children, Willie L. Sneed Jr. (Cassandra), Phenix City, Alabama, Belinda Williams (Ellis), Phenix City, Alabama; four grandchildren, MonCheri Hamp (Tyrome), Columbus, Georgia, LaDovie Thomas, Perry, Florida, Jerry Lewis Thomas, Jr., Live Oak, Florida, and LaDaisie Thomas, Killeen, Texas; seven great grandchildren, Camori Floyd, MaCaria Floyd, Tristen Floyd, Messiah Hamp, John Vicks, IV, Janessa Collier, and Tyree Collier; ten siblings, Earlene Moore (Alex), Opelika, Florida, Annie Brown, Cusseta, Georgia, Mary Alice Prather, Buena Vista, Georgia, Teresa Seldon (Jessie), Columbus, Georgia, Deborah Kelly (Jimmie), Buena Vista, Georgia, Jerry Royal (Gwen Mitchell), Buena Vista, Georgia, Benjamin Royal, Miami, Florida, Milton Royal, Buena Vista, Georgia, Darrell Royal (Alesha), Preston, Georgia, and Andrea Battle (Howard), Ladonia, Alabama; a special aunt, Dovie Jones, Buena Vista, Georgia; and a host of other relatives and friends, including all of her special students from St. Joseph School.
