The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at First Salem Baptist Church, 191 Twin Churches Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. Mrs. Bertha Fobbs was born on July 3, 1931, to the parentage of the late Homer and Mary Lee Quinn Ellis. Mrs. Fobbs was a member of the Zion Grove Baptist Church. She was a faithful member who was the mother of the church, sung in the choir, and served on both the missionary and usher boards. She received her education from Flint River Farms School. She was then employed at Southern Frozen Food, where she was a supervisor for over 40 plus years.
She was preceded in death by a brother Walter Lee, a sister Sarah Kate Joiner and three children Eugene Fobbs, Henry Fobbs, and Mary Harris. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late James Fobbs.
Mrs. Fobbs was a mother to many and was known for her world-famous collard greens. She leaves to cherish her loving eight children: Tara, Fellta, both of Montezuma, Georgia, Randy (Dayna) Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Terry (Cynthia), Montezuma, Georgia, Donald, Macon, Georgia, Danny (Lynda), Riverdale, Georgia, Eddie, Macon, Georgia and Doris of Miami, Florida. She also leaves behind a host of loving grand and great, great great grandchildren. As well as a devoted niece, Elaine Joiner, and special family members and friend, Billy Quinn, and Betty McKenzie.
