Mrs. Bernice Fulks Edwards was born July 29, 1952 to the parentage of the late Mr. Clarence, Sr. and Mrs. Emma Pearl Tookes Fulks in Macon County Georgia. She was the tenth child to be born to this union. She was preceded in death by four siblings: her three brothers, Clarence Fulks, Jr., Henry Lester Fulks, and Walter Lee Fulks, and one sister, Gracie Fulks. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County Georgia. Bunnie and Aunt Bunnie, as she was affectionately known and called by loved ones and friends, was a 1970 graduate of Dennis Fulton Douglass High School. At an early age, she joined Travelers Home Baptist Church. After thirty years of dedicated service of employment for many families, she retired from private home keeping.
After graduating from high school, Bernice moved to Atlanta where she resided until her death. In 1971, she met and married Mr. Alonzo Edwards. Bernice was a fun-loving and proper lady. She loved gardening and attending to her flowers and plants.
On Monday, March 13, 2017, Bernice peaceably took her last breath at her home. A dear and precious sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor is gone from us; a voice we love is silent, and a place in our hearts is vacant – that can never be filled. She had a laughter that would bring tears to those green-hazel shaded eyes of hers. We will miss her sorely.
Family left to cherish her memories are her five loving sisters, Mrs. Bobbie Lee Hosley of Ellaville, Georgia, Mrs. Pearl Harris of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Christine Bolden (Augustus) of Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Lillie Fulks of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mrs. Daisy Williams (Robert) of Atlanta, Georgia. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, as well as a special friend, Mr. John Thornton.
