The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 5, 2023, at The Restoration Church of Americus Inc., 159 Bumphead Road, Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at Freeman Hill Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Bernard was born on April 14, 1957, to the late Flynn Hill and the late Willie Ruth McDonald. He was preceded in death by five siblings, James Kendrick, Geneva Child Smith, Ruby Dean Thomas, Mattie Hill Little, and Velma Baker. He was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. Bernard worked as a mechanic restoring cars, a carpenter, and a Heavy Equipment Operator.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his children, Brandon Bernard Hill, Alexis Shante Hill, both of Andersonville, Georgia, and Sandra Denise Williams, Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren Kierra Hill, Keiona Hill, Serenity Williams, Isaiah Williams, Miguel Williams, Shawndaruis Williams, Lated Cynthia Williams; one great grandson Kashton Hill; five siblings Edna Hayes (Jessie), Lithonia, Georgia, Catherine Hill, Atlanta, Georgia, Charlie Hill, Andersonville, Georgia, Irene Reddick (Willie), Blakely, Georgia, and Augusta Hill, Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including good friends Bennie Taylor and Richard Harpe.
