Alvin Turner Jr., age 56, 324 Averill Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed February 19, 2021 at the Phoebe Sumter Hospital, Americus, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Old Poplar Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, Poplar Spring Road, Byromville, Georgia.

​Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.

Graveside services are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.​

Mr. Turner was born November 13, 1964 in Dooly County, Georgia to the late Alvin Turner, Sr. and the late Willie B. Lester Turner.  He was a graduate of the Dooly County High School of Vienna, Georgia and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church of the Flint River Community, Montezuma, Georgia. He worked at Macon State Prison, Oglethorpe, Georgia as a CO-2. He was preceded in death by a loving nephew, Shedrick Turner and a sister, Sandra J. Hawkins.

He is survived by his beloved three children, Jasmine Turner, Montezuma, Georgia, SGT Marcus Walters, U.S. Army stationed in Germany, and Normanique Engram, Warner Robins, Georgia; two loving grandchildren, Nevaeh Turner, Montezuma, Georgia and Tyler Engram of Warner Robins, Georgia; five siblings and their spouses which include Emma Milner (Marvin) Byromville, Georgia, Gail Hawkins, Champaign, Illinois, Roosevelt Lester (Imogene) Chicago, Illinois, Calvin Turner, Atlanta, Georgia and Steve Turner of Americus, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Nettie Maude Legree, Rochester, New York, Annie Sutton (Otha), Unadilla, Georgia, Loise Rogers Byromville, Georgia, Cephus Turner (Ruby), Sarasota, Florida, David Turner (Angela), Dooling , Georgia; he also help raised Jarquavious Akine, Markayla Lapson; special friends Falisha Walter Turner, Montezuma, Georgia, Kelvin Council, James Brown, Montezuma, Kenny Solomon and devoted cousins Nathaniel Rhodes and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

We were sadden to hear the passing of Alvin. He will be dearly missed. Keeping the family uplifted in prayer.

We are so sorry to hear the passing of a great cousin and friend. My wife and I know the world just lost a good man and father much too soon. May you now rest in peace!

My friend I pray that God has blessed you with a seat at his table. I wish I was in Georgia to have been at your home going. I pray that all your family and friends find peace and comfort in each other. I will miss you my friend.
