The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 2, 2007 at Saint John A.M.E. Church, 3980 Steam Mill Road, Columbus, Georgia. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Pineville Road, Buena Vista, Georgia.
Alma was born in Marion County, Georgia to the late George Ivory and Mamie Walker Ivory on January 17, 1940. Four siblings preceded her in death: Lizzie Thomas, Gertrude Hughey, Willie Lee Ivory, and Eugene Ivory. She was educated in the Marion and Macon Counties School Systems. She was a 1957 graduate of Macon County Training School, Montezuma, Georgia. Alma moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Philadelphia Vocational and Technical School and received a certificate in computer programming. On June 30, 2000, she retired from the Federal Reserve Bank after 37 dedicated years of service.
At an early age, she joined the Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church of Buena Vista, Georgia. After moving to Philadelphia, she joined the Wynnfield Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, Children Choir Mother, After School Daycare Coordinator, and Summer Camp Coordinator. In 2002, she moved to Columbus, Georgia and moved her membership to the St. John A.M.E. Church.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Joe Lewis Woodard; to this union, three children were born.
Survivors include her three loving children, Arnold Christopher Woodard (Cheryl), Robin Woodard, and Terri Williams; three grandchildren, Jennifer Woodard Lee (Edward), Arnold Woodard II, and Zaccariah Woodard; one great grandchild, Jaedyn Lee; six siblings, Ruby Jackson, Sidney Ivory, Oseola Ivory, Mayola Taylor, Major Ivory, and Jeanie Kendrick; and two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Ivory and Inez Ivory. Also included are a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
