The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 17, 2023, at First Salem Baptist Church, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Agnes Sanders Wright at the age of 83 went to meet her maker on February 9, 2023, while at her residence in Fort Washington, MD. Mrs. Agnes Sanders Wright was born to the late Bee Sanders and Maggie Ford Sanders on July 5, 1939, in Oglethorpe, GA. She was preceded in death by her two brothers George and Roosevelt Sanders and by her sisters Laura Ann Sanders Harris and Beatrice Sanders Gaines.
She was educated in the Macon County School Systems. After graduating from high school, she moved to the Bronx, New York and then later to Fort Washington, MD.
She married Lawrence A. Wright in 1971 and shared 52 years of love, life and happiness with one another.
In celebration of her life, Agnes leaves to cherish loving memories of her husband Lawrence A. Wright, her devoted children, Rodney and Philip of Fort Washington, MD, Sandra and son in-law Michael of Waldorf, MD. She leaves behind one sister Marie Spikes of Montezuma, GA, six grandchildren: Rashawn Quarles, Brielle Martin (Aaron), Brittney Troxel, Michael Troxel Jr., Ameiya Reaves and Tyrell Reaves. Two great grandchildren: Anthony Jr. and A’meile; a host of loving nieces, nephews, and close friends (Patricia Ross).
