Addie Kitchen Wright

Mrs. Addie Josie Kitchen Wright, age 92, passed away  on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at St. Mark A.M.E. Church, Plains, Georgia. Pastor Shirley Strawter will officiate. Interment will follow in the  Church cemetery.

Mrs. Addie Josie Kitchen Wright was born September 17, 1922, Webster County, Georgia to the late Joe Kitchen Sr. and Annie Lee Clark Kitchen.  Addie was educated at the historic Bishop Johnson School. She was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Ernest Wright, and through this union, six children were reared. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Pauline Kitchen, and twelve siblings.

Addie was a homemaker.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and baking her delicious caramel and pound cakes.  She was a member of St. Mark A.M.E Church, where she served as the Mother of the Church, Missionary, Stewardess and Trustee Board.

She leaves to cherish to her memories: four children, Ernestine Wright Martin (Melvin), Americus, Georgia, Annie Allen, Warner Robins, Georgia, Ruby Willoughby, Clara Thomas, both of Plains, Georgia; one grandchild raised as her own, Elizabeth Ross, Americus, GA; one stepdaughter, Ida Mae Monts (Billy), Plains, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Mary Wright Minion, Plains, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren, a devoted granddaughter, Amber Martin, a devoted grandson, Andre Martin, Annie L. Harris, Wayne Kitchen, Cornelius Kitchen, Mark Willoughby, Donnell Kitchen, Patrick Thomas, Eugenia Spivey (Derek), all of Americus, Georgia, Janice Pless (George), Daryl Kitchen, both of Warner Robins, Georgia,  Alitha Hawkins (Zebulon), Plains, Georgia, Lenekia McKnight (Xavier), Albany, Georgia; sixteen great grandchildren; twenty-one great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends, including two devoted nieces, Virginia Wilson, Americus, Georgia and Mae Frances Merritt, Plains, Georgia; and two devoted caregivers, Trenia and Monique.

Earnestine,

My heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. You have my deepest sympathies on the death of your mother. Please know that the precious memories of your mother will prove to be your biggest inspiration and support. Hold on to the memories for comfort, lean on your friends for strength and always remember how much you are loved. I pray the love of God surrounds you during your difficult times. My thoughts and prayers are with you.and your family!
