The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Rostrum of Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia. The Reverend Felton Poole will officiate.
Corporal Harrell Carmichael Walton, Sr. was born December 14, 1961, to Annie Rose Chapman Walton and the late Hayward Walton Sr. in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia. He was a 1980 graduate of Tri-County High School whereas he was a dynamic football player.
He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Persons Walton and to this union they were blessed with two sons. They were married for 39 years and from their high school years they shared a total of love and devotion for forty-five years.
He enlisted into the United States Marine Corp whereas he was honorably discharged after four years of dedicated service. His tour of duty was proudly served with 1st Bn 10th Mar, 2nd Mar Div. CLMC. and Marine Corps Reserve SC Overland Park, KS. He was the recipient of the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Rifle Marksmanship Badge and Good Conduct Medal. The flag that drapes his casket is given by a grateful Nation for service rendered to his country. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church whereas he joined under the leadership of Rev. Felton Poole. He was formerly employed with Redman and King Custom as a carpenter. He was preceded in death by one brother Hayward Walton Jr.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Janice Persons Walton, Buena Vista, Georgia; two sons, Harrell Carmichael Walton Jr., Columbus, Georgia, Saltel G. Walton (Yashika) Ellaville, Georgia; mother, Annie Rose Walton, Buena Vista, Georgia; five grandchildren and one great grandchild, Diamond Hollis Cynterria Walton both of Ellaville, Georgia, Tydarion Denmark, Buena Vista, Georgia, Kailyn Walton, Atlanta, Georgia, Neasia Jackson, Preston and Kannon Hollis, Ellaville, Georgia; four siblings, Delbert Walton (Pretrella), North Carolina, Terrace Walton (Barbara) and Donnell Sales (Bridgett) of Buena Vista, Georgia and Annie Catherine Irving (Curtis) of Columbus, Georgia; Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Moses Bateman (Michelle), Fitzgerald, Georgia, William Bateman, Buena Vista, Georgia, Willie Lee Williams (Joe), Ella Mae Robinson, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Willie Rose Bateman, Sherry Ann Bateman, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, a host of beloved nieces, including, Brianna Bateman, Kaleigh Level, Shetria Smith, Lauren Bishop and Uniqua Walton, nephew Britt Walton; aunts and uncles, Isabelle Walton, Crystal Gilder (Rossevelt), Anita Wimbrush, Ozella Walton (Willie) Columbus, Georgia and Bobbie Mckinney, Buena Vista, Georgia; a loving and devoted cousin Howard Walton Jr.; a host of devoted friends including, Willie Carson, Ronnie West, Willie Smith, Essie Thomas, and Floyd; and his military buddies, M.A. Williams and S.R.
