The funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Jehovah Baptist Church, Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Shakendra Shantae Hayes was born on September 10, 1981, in Americus, Georgia to L.B. Hayes Jr. and the Verna Lamb Hayes. Big Red, as she was known by family and friends, was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Garden Valley, Georgia under the leadership of the late Rev. Governor Gibson. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her three precious children Rha’Kajawaune Cromer, Jha’Kendrielle Cromer, and Jamarcus Lumpkin; parents L.B. Hayes Jr. and Verna Hayes; grandmother Rosie Harmon; three siblings, Tawanda Ellis, Nikki Turner (Nicholas), and Ebony Owens; nieces and nephews, Tyler, Corey, Kha’Leyah, Kylen; a companion, Julian Boulton; aunts and uncles Deborah Allen, Anthony Robinson (Lawanda), Ernest White Jr., Leonard White, Williams White (Raynell), Wendell White, Calvin White (Carolyn), Mary Hayes Washington (Edras), Minor Lewis Hayes, Sr., Lenton Hayes Sr., Lee Willis Hayes (Frances), Milton Hayes (Velma), Jackie Hayes Hamilton, Geraldine Hayes Ashmon, Virginia Hayes Johnson, Patricia Hayes Martin, Eva Lou Hayes, Ceneva Walker Hayes; a host of cousins and friends including devoted friends Shakira Walker, Edjarodor Cromer.
