
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, May 26, 2019 at First United Holiness Church, 324 Engram Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Willie Lewis Harris Sr. was born December 2, 1944 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Wyle Harris and Mary Marshall Harris. He received his education from Flint River Training School and the historic D. F. Douglass High School, where he played football. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined the Holy House of God on Plant Street in Montezuma, Georgia under the leadership of the late Elder Barber. He later moved his membership to First United Holiness Church of Montezuma, Georgia under the leadership of the late Overseer Aaron Snipes, Sr. He was employed with the City of Fort Valley and after years of dedicated services he retired in 2018. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Gail Bernorth Harris October 4, 1978 and to this union they were blessed with four children. One daughter, Debra Harris Tracker, and three siblings, Annie Mae Hannor, Annie Lee Hannor, and Willie Sneed, preceded him in death.
Willie departed his earthly life on May 17, 2019 at the Pine Pointe Hospice Navicent Health of Macon Georgia.
He is survived by six children, Willie Harris, Jr, Petina Harris, all of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jamie Hinds (Ricardo), Oglethorpe Georgia, SSG Lukeldic “Mario” Harris, Sr. (Le-Tiffany), Columbus, Georgia, Jacob Harris (Deandra), Jennika Harris, all of Perry, Georgia; twenty-five grandchildren including a devoted foster son Jermel Tannerhill (Angelina), Macon, Georgia; one brother, Clarence Harris of Roberta Georgia; brothers/sisters-in-law, Baby Ray Hopkins (Robert), Mary Neil Harris, Sammie Harris (Rosie Bell), Joyce Cook, and Achelles Ford (Stacey), Phenix City, Alabama; grandchildren, Colby Lester, Trevon Harris, Kyjuan Harris, Jalen Harris, Jakeem Harris, Siobhan Harris, Jere’Amare Harris, Tykia Harris, Lukeldic Harris Jr., Jamiesha Hinds, Elian “EJ” Harris, Arrian Hinton, Michelle Ford, Breonna Ford, Jordan Harris, Justin Harris, Jacob Harris Jr. Emmniya Riggins, Shawn Harris, Brittany Harris, Kristan Thacker, Christopher Thacker, Lamont Mckenize, Johann Grant-Harris, Destiny Tookes, Austin Lango; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends, including devoted co-workers Plezy Lee Nelson, Jr., Scott McClendon, Ronnie Davis, Ronnie Daniely; beloved Foster/Cared children, Shernnor Williams, Maurice Wimberly, Patricia Wimberly, Anthony Pasteur, Oscar Pasteur, Brandon Williams, Shon Cross, Emmauel Tannerhill, Sekema Lloyd, Jerome Conney, Jason Wiggin, Jercel Wiggin, Kelvin Tannerhill, and Lillian Thaddeaus.
