Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 12, 2020 at New Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Allen Street, Leslie, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10 at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.
Steven Terrell Mercer was born September 4, 1967 in Americus, Georgia to the late Oscar Lee Mercer, Sr. and the late Catherine Thomas Mercer. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Reverend Leroy Thomas, Clara Thomas, Susie Mae Mercer, and Lonnie Mercer, Sr.; two sisters Evangelist Cathy Mercer, Tara Mercer; and one brother Oscar Lee Mercer Jr. At an early age he joined the band of Christian believers at New Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cobb, Georgia. He was educated in the public school of Sumter County and was a 1985 graduate of Sumter County Comprehensive High School. Following high school he enlisted into the United States Navy. He was a member of the Masonic and Shrine Lodge. Steven worked at the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany until he retired.
Precious memories are left to his five children, Jasmine Mercer, Plains, Georgia, Jamil Mercer, Alexandria Fuller (Christopher), Alexeus Mercer, and Mariah Mercer; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Cameron, Myron, Antonnio, Gabriel, Caden, Naquajah, Christina, and Christopher Jr.; four siblings, Min. Gwenevere Adams (Mohandas), Albany, Georgia, Min. Kelvin Mercer (Tadia), Leesburg, Georgia, Melvin Mercer (Sherronda), Warner Robins, Georgia, and Angela Jones of Leesburg, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Willis Thomas, Eddie Thomas (Velma) all of Desoto, Georgia, Leroy Thomas (Deborah), Vidalia, Georgia, Min. Alice Reddick (Ned), Ethel Thomas, Carolyn Whitehead, Lonnie Mercer Jr. all of Leslie, Georgia, Betty Day (Rogers), Leesburg, Georgia, Joann Green (Willie C.), Miami, Florida, Nettie Dunning, Jonesboro, Georgia and Barbara Jean Hopkins, Minnesota; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of other relatives, and friends.
