​Nathaniel Joshua English, Sr., age 85, passed on July 27, 2020 at his residence.

A wake service will be held from 2:00-4:00 P.M., Sunday August 2, 2020 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

​Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10 at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.

Nathaniel Joshua English, Sr. was born December 14, 1934 in Andersonville, Georgia to the late Deacon Oscar B. English, Sr. and the late Artie Zell Lumpkin English.  Nathaniel was preceded in death by eight siblings, Doris English Snead, Cora Dean English Tookes, Virginia English Wiggins, Philmore English, Elder O. B. English Jr., Rosanna English, Deacon Alfred English and Willie Bell English. 

Nathaniel, affectionately known as ‘Nay’, was educated in the Macon County school system in Georgia. As a young adult he moved to Brooklyn, NY, where he made his living as a truck driver. While in NY he met & married his true love, the former Elizabeth Brown. Nay & Liz shared sixty wonderful years together before the Lord called his beloved wife home last year in January. Nay & Liz raised 3 happy & strong children: June, Natalie, who preceded them in death, on May 14th, 2017, & Nat Jr, (Josh).

Nay loved his family, traveling & gardening. He had several gardens in NY, where he grew delicious veggies that the family enjoyed. Nay was also known for making his famous gingerbread cake, & pea soup. After making his living he retired & moved back to Georgia to be near his elderly dad.

Nathaniel, Sr. departed this earthly life on Monday, July 27,2020 in the loving care of his beloved children. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter June English, Brooklyn, New York and Nathaniel English, Jr. (Andrea), Andersonville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Robert Nathaniel Jones, Brooklyn, New York, Laijun Elizabeth English and Nathaniel Joshua English III, both of Andersonville, Georgia; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Artie Zell English Schofield (Walter) and Ruby English Ludaway all of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law Margaret English, Oglethorpe, Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other beloved cousins and friends.

My dad,my hero, my Superman, my chauffeur, my chef, my friend, the greatest grandpa, I love me some Nay! He will be sorely missed!
