The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Jehovah Baptist Church, 201 Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Eugene was born August 2, 1959, in Perry, Georgia to the late Eddie Mae Perry Davis and the late Jesse B. Davis. He is preceded in death by siblings Clarissa Golden, Annie Cal Jolie, and Eddie Davis.
He was educated in the public school system of Houston County and was a 1977 graduate of Perry High School. Following high school Eugene entered in the United States Army where he served his country proudly.
Eugene was married to the late Debra McCants Davis. After the passing of his first love, he later found love again and married the late Robin Black Davis. Eugene was a member of Jehovah Baptist Church. His pastimes included fishing, singing, dancing, and watching the steelers.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his four sons Kenneth Mitchell (Miya), Columbus, GA, Calvin Mitchell, Columbus, GA, Bryan Mitchell (Lashanette), Wichita, KS and Brandon Mitchell, Seattle, WA; fourteen grandchildren; siblings: Calvin Perry (Cynthia), Savannah, GA, Lorenza Davis, Oglethorpe, GA, Sandra Davis Harris, Warner Robins, GA, Rev. Steve Askew (Lois), Dublin, GA, Bobby Childs (Rose), Unadilla, GA, Lakeitha (Curtis) Holmes, Perry, GA, Vernita Rawls, Perry, GA, Patrice Davis, Warner Robins, GA, Sharon Askew Green, Warner Robins, GA, Joyce Rochester, NY, fours aunts Wylene Renford, Perry, GA, Barbara Davis, Perry, Ga, Lorene Moss, Bronx, NY, and Betty Davis; two great aunts Ruth Lawson, Alice West, both of Unadilla, GA a devoted sis in law Ellen Davis and brother in law Jimmy Golden; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, uncles, sisters/brothers in law, cousins and friends.
