Bernice B. Smith, of Rochester, New York, passed away on October 30, 2015.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. James C.M.E Church, 215 Railroad Street, Marshallville, Georgia, where Reverend Billy Heard is pastor. Burial will follow at Willow Lake Memorial Gardens, Willow Lake Road, Fort Valley, Georgia.

Bernice B. Smith was born on January 20, 1952, in Macon County, Georgia, to the late Maggie Pearl Blue and Henry L. Blue.  She relocated to Rochester, NY with her family in 1957.  She graduated from Monroe High School in 1969 and was employed at Eastman Kodak for many years, retiring from the Film Finishing department in 2007. Bernice was always taking pictures of family and friends. She had boxes upon boxes of pictures. This served as proof that she single handedly intended to save the Eastman Kodak Company film business, despite the digital evolution.

Bernice was known for her love of order and process.  She always knew exactly how things should go and was always willing to share with her family, whether they wanted to hear it or not. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone. She was a true Georgia Peach.

The Lord saw fit to call Bernice home on October 30, 2015.  We will miss her dearly. She rests in the Lord's tender care and joins her loved ones who have preceded her in death: her mother and sister, Delores Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughter, MaToya Smith; brothers, Henry Lewis (Ann) Blue, Bernard Blue; sister, Deborah Elaine (LeRoy) Quick, all of Rochester, NY;  twin goddaughters, Dominique and Monique Miller; a special great niece who was like a daughter, Modesty Gause, and her children who were like grandchildren, Taniah and Candace McCutcheon and Isis Rutledge; lifelong friends Marina Alvarez, Jackie Hannah, Evelyn Walters, and Jannette Leary (Marshallville, GA); a special neighbor, Jennifer Rozzi, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family,
Having experienced death in my family recently, we have to hold onto cherished memories-- good times that made us smile and serious times that we really enjoyed our dear ones that have passed away...

Have you ever wondered beyond a dream if we could see our dead loved ones again? What if it wasn't just a folk tale, dream or story? Well, the bible holds out that it will become a reality, yes, a truth that Jehovah God has held out for mankind ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed him....Job knew about that prospect of living again at Job 14: 13-15.... The apostle John did as well by penning words by Jesus at John 5: 28, 29... It will become a reality and it will be here very soon... Our dear ones are just sleeping as Lazarus was before Jesus resurrected him and as Ecclesiastes 9:5. Take care and the God Of all comfort will be with you..

To the Family of Ms. Smith: I read of the loss of your dear loved one. There are few things in life that will ever effect us more, than the death of a loved one. Not only do we have to endure the immense pain of loss, we are also left to face a future that will be quite different from what we had expected. Ms. Smith will be missed by family and friends, but she will never be forgotten by Our Creator, Jehovah (Psalm 83:18). He promises that soon, He will end all causes of suffering (Revelation 21:3-5). Until then, may God's promises and the many wonderful memories bring all of you a measure comfort, knowing that you have an opportunity to see Bernice again and share more wonderful times together. Please, take a few moments to read of those promises in your personal copy of the Bible. May I assure you, I am not trying to give or change your religion. The pain of loss is felt, regardless of religion. My heartfelt condolences to all of you. (Jeremiah 29:11-3; Philippians 4: 6,7,13).
