The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 420 East Jefferson Street, Americus, Georgia, where Rev. H.C. Wilson is pastor. Interment will follow in the Staley Cemetery, Corner of Souther Field & Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia.
Freddie was born February 20, 1955 to the late Sam Harris and the late Mildred Melvin Harris in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia. Two brothers, Robert Latimore and Samuel L. Harris, and one niece, Yolanda Collier Pinkston, preceded him in death. He was a graduate of John Lewis High School.
He was employed with the former Metalux, Cooper Lighting Company, which is now known as Eaton, for 26 years. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Ellaville, Georgia. He was married to the former Linda Settles.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Linda Harris, Americus, Georgia; two children, Deondra C. Harris, Valdosta, Georgia and Desmond S. Harris, Columbus, Georgia; two sisters, Doris Harris, Fairburn, Georgia, Brenda Kimbrough (Alexander), Americus, Georgia; mother-in-law, Rosa Crockett, Augusta, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Walter Crockett (Sue), Korea, and Patrick Crockett, St. Petersburg, Florida; two aunts, Beulah Mae Harris and Missouri Harris, both of Americus, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his extended family, Pamela Angry, Lydia Walker, Luneda Brown, Tracy Wilson, and many other caring friends.
