Veronica Tookes, age 46, passed on January 13, 2024.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at First Salem Baptist Church, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Veronica Latrelle Tookes affectionately known as “Runt,” was born July 16, 1977, to the late John Thomas Tookes Jr. and Dorothy Ann Oliver and Thomas Oliver. She was educated in the Macon County Public School System and was a member of the D. F. Douglass class of 1995. Veronica accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the membership of the First Salem Baptist Church at an early age. She was employed at Gilmer Warehouse & Logistics as a production worker.
Veronica was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie James McDonald, John Thomas Tookes and Ida Mae Tookes.
