Vera LaShawn Sneed Thomas, age 50, 138 Sweet Gum Lane, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Hospital, Albany, Georgia.

A wake is scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at New Hope Baptist Church, 25 New Hope Road, Holy Trinity, Alabama. Pastor Vera Holt will officiate. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Holy Trinity, Alabama.

Vera was born March 3, 1964 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to Bertha Marie Royal Sneed and Willie Lee Sneed, Sr. She was educated at the St. Joseph Catholic School, Holy Trinity, Alabama and Pacelli High School in Columbus, Georgia. She furthered her education in Miami, Florida. She was employed with various companies, Fort Benning Commissary, Fort Knox Commissary & UPS, and Automobile Sales.

At an early age, she joined New Hope Baptist Church. After returning home, she joined New Life Temple of Deliverance Ministries of Preston, Georgia. She was married to Jerry Thomas, Sr. To this union, they were blessed with three children.

Survivors are three loving children, LaDovie Thomas, Jerry Lewis Thomas, Jr. and LaDaisie Thomas, three grandchildren, John Vicks, IV, Janessa Collier and Tyree Collier; parents, Bertha Marie Royal Sneed and Willie Lee Sneed, Sr.; siblings, Willie Lee Sneed, Jr. Miami, Florida and Belinda Sneed Williams (Ellis), Fort Mitchell, Alabama; Aunts/Uncles, Earlene Moore (Alex), Opelika, Florida, Annie Brown, Cusseta, Georgia, Mary Alice Prather, Buena Vista, Georgia, Teresa Seldon (Jessie), Columbus, Georgia, Special Aunt, Deborah Kelly (Jimmie), Buena Vista, Georgia, Jerry Royal (Gwen Mitchell) Buena Vista, Georgia, Benjamin Royal, Miami, Florida, Milton Royal, Buena Vista, Georgia, Darrell Royal (Alesha), Preston, Georgia, Andrea Battle (Howard), Ladonia, Alabama, Mattie Sneed, Brooklyn, New York, Hattie Sneed, Rosetta Sneed, Odell Pam, Mary Sneed, Phoenix City, Alabama, Connie Sneed, Fort Mitchell, Alabama, A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including six devoted friends, Faye Bell Smith, Bobby Jean Porter, and St. Joseph friends Denene Hill, Yvette Tellis, Vanessa Holloway, DoRenda Hutchins, and her New Life Temple of Deliverance Ministries Family.

To Mrs. Sneed and family, please know that I am thinking of you all and grieving along with the family during this difficult time. Shawn and I have beautiful memories that expand over 40 plus years. She will be deeply missed and always in my heart.

Mrs Sneed my prayers goes out for you and your family. Shawn was a beautiful person. We had some great days at St. Joseph. I will always remember her beautiful smile and that funny laugh. love you guys sooooooooooooo much.. Stay focus and treasure your memories that your shared together with shawn never let go.

I am very sorry for your loss. One day we will be able to see our dead loved ones again by means of a resurrection mentioned at John 5: 28 & 29.
