Ulysses Terry, Sr. was born on July 30, 1935 in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late James Arthur Terry and Alice Thomas Terry. He departed this earthly life on November 12, 2017 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
He attended school in Buena Vista, Georgia and worked diligently at a young age to help provide for his family. He gave his life to Christ while attending Hall Chapel C.M.E church and served as an usher.
Ulysses fell in love and married Annie Ruth Green, who was his loving and devoted wife for 62 years. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where his uncle Felton Thomas lined up a job working with him. To this union was born two children, Alice Terry-Thurston and Ulysses Terry, Jr. He always wanted to own his own business. He met this goal by becoming a certified electrician and owning a laundromat. He worked very hard to provide for his family, but also enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, watching sports, visiting with his grandchildren and going home to Buena Vista.
Ulysses and Annie lived in Indianapolis until 2012, when they decided to move to South Florida to be closer to their family. In April 2017, Ulysses was hospitalized due to poor health and remained there until his death.
Precious memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Annie Ruth Terry; children Alice Terry-Thurston (Floyd), Ulysses Terry, Jr., four grandchildren, Marcus Terry, Dr. Erin Thurston, Marissa Cameron (Jarvarius), Brent Thurston; and great grandson Josiah Cameron.
