The funeral service for Ulysses Terry,  Sr.,  will be held on Saturday November 25, 2017 at 1:00 P.M at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church 121 E. Bridges Street, Buena Vista, GA, where Reverend Felton Poole is pastor.  Reverend Zechariah Terry will be the eulogist.

Ulysses Terry, Sr. was born on July 30, 1935 in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late James Arthur Terry and Alice Thomas Terry. He departed this earthly life on November 12, 2017 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.

He attended school in Buena Vista, Georgia and worked diligently at a young age to help provide for his family.  He gave his life to Christ while attending Hall Chapel C.M.E church and served as an usher.

Ulysses fell in love and married Annie Ruth Green, who was his loving and devoted wife for 62 years.  Shortly after marrying, they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where his uncle Felton Thomas lined up a job working with him.  To this union was born two children, Alice Terry-Thurston and Ulysses Terry, Jr. He always wanted to own his own business.  He met this goal by becoming a certified electrician and owning a laundromat.  He worked very hard to provide for his family, but also enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, watching sports, visiting with his grandchildren and going home to Buena Vista.

Ulysses and Annie lived in Indianapolis until 2012, when they decided to move to South Florida to be closer to their family. In April 2017, Ulysses was hospitalized due to poor health and remained there until his death.

Precious memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Annie Ruth Terry; children Alice Terry-Thurston (Floyd), Ulysses Terry, Jr., four grandchildren, Marcus Terry, Dr. Erin Thurston, Marissa Cameron (Jarvarius), Brent Thurston; and great grandson Josiah Cameron. He leaves a legacy of love, determination, and a strong work ethic.  He is also survived by four sisters Ellen Minter (Charlie), Hellen Minter (Milton), Vertisteen Jordan (David), Bobbie Woods (Wallie); one brother, Rev.Tommy Terry, Sr. (Lois) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

I am sorry you have suffered the loss of someone dear to you, please have faith in God. By meditating on God’s promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going throughout your grief. "For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus."—1 Thessalonians 4:14

No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing that your father is now resting in the arms of our Lord. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear Husband and Father. May the love of family, friends, and Almighty God bring you comfort and support during your time of grief and afterward. (Ps. 83:18; Isaiah 41:10) May your precious memories of him and the hope of his resurrection right here on a restored earth bring you peace. (John 5:25; Psalm 37:11, 29)
