Ulysses Hankerson, affectionately called “Bo Bo,” was born in Oglethorpe, Georgia on March 4, 1929 to the parentage of John Clem, Sr. and Selena McDonald Hankerson. To this union, thirteen children were born.  One sibling, Robert, the 11th infant child, preceded them both in death. Including Robert, there were four girls and nine boys who grew up into adulthood. Nine siblings preceded him in death: Charles R. Bo Bo joined the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the ministry of Reverend G.G. McCarter.  He began working on the railroad at the young age of 13 years as a Water Boy. At the age of 17, he was employed full-time as a Spiker on the Sea Board Coastline Railroad. He worked on the railroad 42 years and only missed five days from work due to a knee injury. He retired from the CSX Railroad in 1990. He acquired his education from the Macon County School System.

I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. Recently I lost my dear Mom,
and found great comfort in the Holy Bible, like at Isaiah 25 verse 8 -
"The Sovereign Lord will swallow up death forever, and wipe away
the tears from all faces." Also at Revelation 21 verse 4 we find
God's promise to remove both pain and death. For more comfort,
I turn to the website at: www.jw.org (Search: Comfort)

My eyes are like an ocean of tears. Donna my friend and the entire Hankerson family , you all are in my heart right now and forever. Mr. Bo,” and Zett were great inspirations when we would go over to visit with Donna. Mr. Hankerson was such a caring and dear person to Donna’s friends, Lorna, Dean, Bettye sue, he always had great words to say, to us on our journey out on the town, being in high school. We had to listen to mrs. Zett and Mr . Bo, before living their home. I will dearly miss Mr. Bo, a great Dad, councilor, educator, and a man of business no, non sense at all. Donna, I am grieving with you. To zett and all the children I always felt a part of the family. My condolences are express deeply to the family. Lorna and the class of 1973 .
