The funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Cool Springs Baptist Church, 1625 Cool Springs Road, Buena Vista, Georgia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such a high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Mother Sarah Louise Muff Thomas was born on October 1, 1940, to the late Willie and Evelyn Hawkins Muff. She departed this life on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
She was married to the late Tommie James (T.J.) Thomas and to this union four children were born. She joined Cool Spring Baptist Church at an early age where she served faithfully. At the time of her death she served as a church mother on the Mother’s Board and was also a former Ward Captain.
She was employed with Dent Poultry Company from 1964 - 1978. She retired in 1978 to care for her first granddaughter, April. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, cousin and friend. She loved her family immensely and that love was reciprocated.
She was preceded in death by her husband T. J. Thomas, her mother and father Willie and Evelyn Muff; sisters Maggie Crimes and Flora Dunans; and her brothers Charlie, Arthur and Martin Muff.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons Deacon Willie (Georgia) Thomas and David (Melanie) Thomas; two daughters Sylvia (Bennie) Givins and Cynthia Thomas; two god-daughters Connie (Danny) English and Lisa Slaughter; one brother Ulysses Muff and one sister Ella Colbert Porter; seven grandchildren: April Brown (reared as her own), Terra (Nickolas) Dismuke, Ja’Lisa Givins, Dr. Le’Keldric (Quand) Thomas, Darell Rutledge, DC1 Tavoris West, and Desmond Thomas; and six great grandchildren Ja’Niya West, Kyliah Scales, Anaiyah Mighty, Nevaeh Thomas, Taliyah West and Sariyah Dismuke.
Her legacy also includes sisters/brothers-in-law William (June) Thomas, Mary Ann Thomas, Keith Thomas, Earnest Thomas, John Thomas, Eunice Colbert, Evette Thomas, Rev. Eddie (Belinda) McCrae, Jr., Minister Coretha Thomas, Bernice Muff, Katie Davis, Nora (Gordon) Drewery and Mattie B. Muff; and close friends Isabelle Walton and Brenda Wright.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the entire Cool Spring Baptist Church family.
