The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Felton Chapel Church, Georgia Highway 128, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Keith Gibbons, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
Sarah was born March 21, 1931 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Edgar Fulks and Jessie David Fulks. She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Tommy Lee Fulks, Eloise Fulks, J. D. Fulks, Hattie Fulks, J. L. Fulks, Hennie Mae Griffin and W. D. Fulks. She was the widow of the late Willie C. Brooks. To this union, they were blessed with three children. She was educated in the public school system Macon County. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the New Pond Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as the treasurer, at the old historical church located in the New York Community. As the community began to grow small, the church was closed and she moved her membership to Felton Chapel Church. She was the caretaker for her mother, Jossie, whom she nurtured and cared for until her demise.
Survivors are her three loving and devoted children and their spouses: Willie Brooks, Jr. (Annie Maude), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Easter Brooks Mahone (Carey), Oglethorpe, Georgia and Essie Brooks Duncan (Ronald), Montezuma, Georgia; four loving grandchildren, Luquanda Jackson (Marcel), Montezuma, Georgia, Michael Mahone, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Ronald Duncan, Jr., Hampton, Virginia and Kyla Duncan, Montezuma, Georgia; four loving great grandchildren, Chasity Mahone, Jamiah Duncan, Jaron Duncan and Madison Jackson; four siblings, C. H. Fulks, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Carrie Bell White, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Charles Fulks, Brunswick, Georgia and Farris Rice, New York; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Thomas Brooks, Maxie Brooks, Paulene Russell and Laura Fulks, all of Miami, Florida; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, including two devoted nephews, E. T. Hosley and Charlie Carson; other relatives and friends, including three devoted friends, Hazel Williams, Henry Bacon and Gussie Harris.
Mrs. Sarah was a wonderful and caring woman and will be missed by many in the community where she lived. To the family, be encouraged. God makes no mistakes. GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalms 46:1) My heart is reaching out to you, For what you’re going through; I’m thinking of you frequently And praying for you, too. If there’s something I can do, Anything at all, Think of me thinking of you, And don’t hesitate to call.
