The Homegoing services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Big Bethel Baptist Church, 1330 North Jackson Street, Americus, Georgia, with Rev. Glenn Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery, Americus, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such a high, thin heels. Rodia was born on May 7, 1947, in Desoto, Georgia, to the late Bell Thomas and Willie Lou Thomas. She spent her life devoted to faith, family, and community. A longtime resident of Americus, Georgia, she retired as a dedicated Machine Operator with Collins & Aikman after many years of service. Beyond her work, her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength and love within her family.
As a faithful member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church in Leslie, Georgia, Rodia served as the mother of the Church, a role she cherished deeply. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering faith touched the lives of many.
Rodia was preceded in death by her siblings: Willie Thomas Sr., Rushie Bell Minnis, Ardell Thomas-Harris, and Adell Jenkins. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Loretta (Dwight) Tatum, Murray Peterson, and Bernard Peterson; her treasured grandchildren: LaQullia (Kenya) Hosley, Korell Tatum, Reketta Peterson, Corey (Shiliqua) Dice, Brittany Peterson, Breone Peterson, Deanna (Jasquan) Milledge, Lynetta Tatum and Courtney Craft; and 19 precious great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her devoted friend, Ms. Mary Hunt, who stood faithfully by her side.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
