Mrs. Pearlie Duncan Johnson, age 85, 204 Langston Dr., Buena Vista, Georgia passed Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Magnolia Manor of Marion County, Buena Vista, Georgia.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Poplar Spring Baptist Church, GA Highway 137, Buena Vista, Georgia. The Reverend Bobby Lewis, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Buena Vista, Georgia.
Mrs. Pearlie Duncan Johnson was born August 26, 1926 in Marion County, Georgia to the late Cullen Duncan and Alice Clark. She was educated in the public school system of Marion County, Georgia. She also was preceded in death by two siblings, Clevis Mae Duncan McBride and Joseph Duncan. At an early age, she joined the Poplar Spring Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Poplar Spring Baptist Church Choir until her health began to decline. Mrs. Pearlie had a gift of love for people and she patiently sat with them faithfully. After ten plus years of dedicated service, she retired from Marion County Board of Education as a Custodian at Marion County Middle School.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Floyd Johnson and to this union, two children were born. One daughter, Alice Thornton preceded her in death.
Survivors are one daughter, Mary Lois Williams, Buena Vista, Georgia; three loving and devoted grandchildren, Mark Thornton (Johnnie), Buena Vista, Georgia, Eddie Gene Thornton, Ellaville, Georgia and Teresa Stinson (Thores), Columbus, Georgia; five great grandchildren; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
