Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt & friend, Mary M. Terry was born January 5, 1938 Buena Vista, Georgia. She departed this life for her heavenly reward on April 14, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Jettie Lee and Beatrice Bradford. She had eight siblings; all, of which, preceded her in death: Jettie Lee Bradford, Jr., Willie James Bradford, Milton Bradford, Doris Daniel, Herman Bradford, Shirley Gilder, Clyde Bradford & Catherine Gipson.
Mary was educated in Marion County Schools. Throughout her life she held various occupations including Dent’s Poultry and C&W Cabinet Shop.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Usher and Choir member. Mary loved God, her church and her beloved family. Wherever and whenever she was asked to serve she gave herself wholeheartedly. She was licensed & ordained as an Evangelist and was a member of NAACP, as well as OES Yuletide Chapter 383.
“Ma” as her offspring so affectionately called her, loved getting up early; getting dressed (always ready to go); spending time in her garden; cooking her favorite meals; and having family and friends over for dinner and fellowship. She was always willing to help those who were less-fortunate. She loved singing gospel music and had no problem taking over someone else's songsJ
She leaves to cherish her precious memories sons, Benny Jackson (Morgan, Georgia); Rev. Joe W. (Mary) Jackson, (Hobart, Oklahoma); Michael A. (Lillie) Jackson (Marion, Arkansas); daughter, Debra A. (Rev. Lewis) Thompson (Clarksville, Tennessee); sons, Charles D (Myra) Jackson (Washington, North Carolina); & Jeffery (La’Tonnia) Jackson (Herlong, California). She also assisted in raising daughters, Christine Jones & Mary Smith (Americus, Georgia); & son, Willie James Jackson (Miami, Florida). She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
