Mrs. Mary Alice Forehand Meadows, age 79, 130 Tank Road, Geneva, Georgia passed August 9, 2014 at the Saint Francis Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the New Home Baptist Church, 221 Tower Pointe Road (CR#21), Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia. Reverend Rodney Duncan, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. The remains will lay in state from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service.
Mrs. Mary Alice Forehand Meadows was born May 1, 1935 in Fort Valley, Peach County, Georgia to the late Mr. Doug Bass and the late Viola Forehand. After the death of her mother, she was reared by her grandmother, the late Mrs. Ellen Forehand of Montezuma, Georgia. She acquired her education in the public school system of Peach County and Macon County. Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the church at a very early age.
Mary was united in holy matrimony to the late Walter Junior Meadows, Sr. April 20, 1953 and to this union they were blessed with seven children, three of her sons preceded her in death: Gene David Meadows, Leon Meadows and Walter Junior Meadows, Jr. Mary and her family moved to Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia whereas she was employed with the historic Dent Poultry Farm, Inc. and joined the New Home Baptist Church. After several years, the family moved on to Geneva, Talbot County, Georgia where she lived until her demise which came on Saturday, August 9, 2014.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved children and their spouses, Willie Mae Davis (Freddie Lee), Barbara Ann Jackson, all of Geneva, Georgia, Ricky Meadows (Winene), Ideal, Georgia, and Gloria Dean Henderson (J. D.), Geneva, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Williams (Lillie Pearl), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Brenda E. Warren (Henderson), Shirley Pizarro (Joel) Plainsfield, New Jersey and Willie Mae Bass Tookes of Orlando, Florida; sister-in-law, Rose Mae Chinn, Buena Vista, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, including a devoted cousin, John Robert Perry, Geneva, Georgia, and a host of friends.
