Mrs. Lucy Lee Hawkins Carter was born in the county of Sumter and the city of Americus, Georgia to the late Zim Hawkins and the late Fannie Mae Hawkins.  Being reared up in Sumter County, she was educated in the public school system of Americus, Georgia.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Lee Pine; Being the beloved companion of the late Lyn Bell Little she became the beloved caretakers of his daughters, Daisy and Desarae and it was vice-versa with Lucy.  They loved Lucy as well as they loved their mother.

The Bible says, “Who can find a virtuous  woman, for her price is far above rubies. (Proverb31:10)

The scripture also says, “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee.”

Lucy enjoyed cooking, fishing and working in her garden and flower bed.  She had one of the best hands in raising collard greens, tomatoes and hot peppers. And most of all she enjoyed sharing them with her family and friends.

She leaves a legacy of love and many fonds memories to her beloved siblings, Ceola Washington, Catherine Hawkins, Willie C. Hawkins and Clarence Hawkins;

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives including Daisy Little and family, Desarae Blakely and family and the All Ways Caring Home Care and family and a devoted caregiver, Barbara Burts.

We'll miss Lucy very much. She worked for a long while at Scott's Jewelry helping us keep the store clean and well kept. She was always fun to be around and a good worker. She was one of my favorite people in this world.

My mom, Geneva Young and Lucy were neighbors at Ravenwood apartments so that is how I came to know her, she was a very private person but will be missed by all who knew her. Rip Lucy
