A wake service will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Restoration Church, Douglas Circle, Americus, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery, 4969 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Lora was born August 7, 1930 to the late Felix Williamson, Sr. and Mamie Simmons in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia. She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County, where she was a graduate of the historic Staley High School. She was a member of the historic Pillow Ground and Truth, under the leadership of the late Bishop Staley. She was united in holy matrimony to the late George Arthur Patterson. They were blessed with three children, twelve grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. For 27 years she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse caring for patients at the Americus Negro Hospital, Sumter Regional Hospital and Magnolia Nursing Home of Americus, Georgia. She earned her LPN license under the administration of Sumter Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, George (Bud) Patterson; sisters, Janie Battle and Cora Dale Black; brothers, James Williamson and Robert Williamson; brothers-in-law, Charlie Stewart and Jimmy Beavers; and a niece, Belinda Floyd.
Lora is survived by her children, Patricia Davis (David), Cornelia Oliver (James), and Correy Simmons, Sr. (Marie); goddaughter, Shonda Rouland; brothers, Eugene Williamson (Eddie), Felix Williamson, Jr. (Minnie), and Doug Williamson (Rose); sisters, Christine Stewart, Betty Beavers, Mildred Williamson, Pearl Smith (Paul), Mary Francis Hayes, and Josephine Mercer (Sam); grandchildren, Walter Manvel Simmons, Deshavia Davis (Cordarrius), Stephanie Diggs, Cicera Floyd, Byron Robinson, Kenyonia Holt-Fish (Jabarri), Correy Oliver, Kadjha Banks, Reginald Oliver (Shonta), JaCorrey Bateman (Marcus), Correy Simmons, Jr., Esco Hurt; 23 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
