Larry Thomas, age 62, 1043 Georgia Highway 224, Montezuma, Georgia passed Sunday, November 24, 2013.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Travelers Home Baptist Church, Travelers Home Road, Ideal, Georgia. Reverend Carl Munns pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Larry was born February 11, 1951 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to the late Leon Thomas, Sr. and Lizzie Ivory Thomas. He was preceded in death by two brothers Leon Thomas, Jr., and Olin Thomas, Sr. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a 1969 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School. After high school he enlisted into the United States Navy in 1970. He was honorably discharged January 13, 1976.
He worked as an orderly in V.A. hospital of California for several years. He returned back to his native land to be with his mother during her illness. He was employed with Southern Frozen Food and later moved on to Unadilla Frozen Food Warehouse of Unadilla, Georgia.
Survivors are five siblings Reverend David (Lillie) Thomas, Montezuma, Georgia, Virginia Holt, Ivory (Thelma) Thomas, Joseph (Barbara) Thomas, all of Atlanta, Georgia and Marion (Rev. Joe) Oglesby, Sr., Montezuma, Georgia; uncles and aunts, Major (Rebecca) Ivory, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Sidney (Geraldine) Ivory, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jeanie Kendrick, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Mayola (Johnny) Taylor, and Oseola Ivory, both of Buena Vista, Georgia, Mary Thomas, Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Fannie Thomas, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
