The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Union Baptist Church, Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow at the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Hwy 26, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such a high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Joseph Cephus was born on December 25, 1957, to the late Emma Lee Schofield Cephus and the late Willie Davis Cephus. He was a 1977 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School.
He retired from Tyson Foods, Inc in 2021, he was also employed with Macon County Board of Education as a custodian in 2022 under the administration of Disinfectant Solutions of Atlanta, LLC.
He was preceded in death by three of his siblings: Henry Cephus, Elzie Cephus and Jimmy Cephus.
He left to remember his memories his five siblings: Wille Mae Cephus of Greensboro, NC, Mary Emma Davis, and Cora Dean Cephus both of Montezuma, Georgia, Calvin Cephus (Anginette) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Sammie Cephus (Tamecca). His aunts and uncles: Jannie Beal of Montezuma, Georgia, Walter B. Schofield (Artie) of Jacksonville, FL, Jerry Schofield (Emma) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Roosevelt Schofield of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and Johnny Schofield (Darlene) of Reno, NV and a host of nieces and nephews.
