Graveside services with military honors will be held at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
James Edward Greene was born December 5, 1941 to the late Obelia Jordan Story and the late Cullen Greene. He was the beloved step son of the late Walter Ben Story Sr. Born in a family of eight siblings he was preceded in death by two brothers Jackie Story and Billie Story, and one son Joseph Hannor. He was educated through the public school system of Macon County. Following high school “Bear” as he was called by family and friends enlisted in the United States Army. He worked at the Montezuma Police Department as a police officer and Georgia Pacific of Vienna, Georgia. One of his greatest passions was his game of golf. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of his loved ones.
He leaves cherished memories to his children: Alvis “James” Troutman (Barbara Walters), Montezuma, GA, Veronica Davis (Karl), Woodbridge, VA, Jeffrey Greene, Gilbert, AZ, James Edward Greene Jr. and Raimon Greene, both of Akron, OH; daughter-in-law, Wendy Hannor; Grandchildren: Markiel Witchard, Marcus Greene, Joshua Greene, Jasmine Jackson, Ji’Selynn, Jaylen and Jolan Hannor; 4 great grandchildren; siblings: Sonny Snead, Akron, OH, Walter Ben Story, Jr., Richard Story (Gloria), Marshell Canady (Jeffrey), all of Montezuma, GA, a sister–in-law, Burnell Story, Montezuma, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives loved ones and friends.
