Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Moody Road, Tazewell, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Howard Lewis Walton, Sr. was born January 19, 1939 in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late James and Katie Lou Walton. Howard was preceded in death by two children: Gloria Walton & Dennis Walton. He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Hayward Walton, Sr., Elma Walton, Ossie Walton, and Aaron Walton.
Howard Walton, Sr. affectionately known as “Po-Boy” was educated in the public school system of Buena Vista High School. Howard was employed with Redman Mobile Homes for over 29 years! He was a faithful member of Mahalia Chapel A.M.E. Church where he served as the Chairman and Head Steward. He was also a loyal member of the Sons of Allen. Howard loved his family, gardening, and lending a helping hand around the community.
November 2nd, 1958 Howard Walton married the love of his life Isabelle Jackson. Howard and Isabelle shared sixty-one blessed years together until the Lord called him home on September 15, 2020.
Howard Lewis Walton, Sr. leaves to cherish his good memories to his wife of 61 years, Isabelle Walton, of Buena Vista, Georgia; sons, Fitzgerald Walton (Suzette) of Bluffton, South Carolina; Howard Walton, Jr. of Buena Vista Georgia; Semaj Walton, Knoxville, Tennessee; daughters, Dr. Vanessa Walton-Stewart of Miami, Florida, Sherri Walton-Josey (Derrick) of Buena Vista, Georgia; siblings, Jewel Kelley (Charlie) of Buena Vista, Georgia; Essie Walton and Velma Walton, of Brooklyn, New York; devoted niece, Pamela Arnold, of Miami, Florida; brothers-in-law, Freddie Fitzpatrick (Pearl) of Bonaire, Georgia and Albert Fitzpatrick of Charleston, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Gussie NeSmith, Tallahassee, Florida, Nevada O’Field, Miami, Florida, Annie Rose Walton of Buena Vista, Georgia, Patricia Ramsey (Alfonzo) of Buena Vista, Georgia; Paulette Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia, Miriam Walton of Stone Mountain, Georgia; aunt, Timmie Bailey of Miami, Florida; uncle, Walter Level, Sr. (Star) of Miami, Florida; uncle, Gene Wedner of Queens, New York; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
