
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia, where Reverend Glenn Bryant is pastor. Burial will follow in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Horace was born on August 7, 1944 to the late Thomas Fitzhugh and Alice Lumpkin Fitzhugh in Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County then enlisted in the United States Army. For years he worked at the Macon County Board of Education as a Custodian. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and went on to join the band of Christian believers of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
He was joined in holy matrimony to the formal Willie Pearl Sykes and to this union six children were reared. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Laquita Fitzhugh.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Pearl Fitzhugh, Oglethorpe, Georgia; five children, Marshan Kendrick, Reynolds, Georgia, Cedric McCants, Seattle, Washington, Barbara Harris (Malcolm), Montezuma, Georgia, Tammy Fitzhugh, Ideal, Georgia, and Rhonda Redman (Michael), Warner Robins, Georgia; Arravinia Moore (Denny) Hartwell, Georgia; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Renfro (Bill) Columbus, Georgia, Carolyn Fitzhugh, Macon, Georgia, Glandice Fitzhugh, Atlanta, Georgia, Larry Fitzhugh, Sammy Fitzhugh, and Calvin Fitzhugh Sr., all of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.
