The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday Morning, March 30, 2019 at the William Grove Baptist Church, 71 Gill Street, Ellaville, Georgia. Reverend Michael Edge, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Staley Memorial Cemetery, corner of Mayo Street and Southerfield Road, Americus, Georgia.
Gabriel was born June 18, 1971 in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia to Willie James “Skeeter” Laster the late Annie Lue Ragans Laster. He was a 1989 graduate of Americus High School and a 1995 graduate of Ft. Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. On the tenth of June, 1995 he acquired his B.S. Degree from Georgia Southwestern State University in the field of science, specializing in horticulture, and later gained employment with Jimmy Carter National Historic Site as a Park Ranger in Plains, Georgia for fifteen years.
Gabriel was united in holy matrimony to his one and only love on the eighteenth of April 2009, the former Chinquita Green, and to this union they were blessed with one son, Dezmond Ke’Shawn Laster. He and his family were dedicated members of William Grove Baptist Church where he was a member of the Senior Choir and Male Chorus.
Survivors are his beloved wife, Chinquita Green Laster, Americus, Georgia; his beloved son, Dezmond KeShawn Laster, Americus, Georgia; his father, Willie James “Skeeter” Laster, Americus, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Lee (Barbara) Thomas, Sandra Walker, Bonnie Ragans, Sammie Walker all of Americus, Georgia, Betty Ann (Charlie) Wallace, Macon, Georgia, Alvin (Sharon) Floyd, Jacksonville, Florida, Laura Fench, Cynthia (Jeffery) Dillard all of Atlanta, Georgia, Cecil (John) Rogers Douglasville, Georgia; godchildren Andrea James, Ashlei Banks, Haley Banks, Morgan Brown, Harmony Anise George; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rodriqez (Brenda) Green, Americus, Georgia, Tanickey (Shannon) Harris, Sr. Columbus, Georgia, Rebecca Harris and Roydeshia Harris both of Americus, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces and nephews including one devoted, Janiya Thomas, Americus, Georgia; a devoted cousin, Michelle Fench-Darmon; a host of other relatives and friends including best friends Tommy Pless and Yvonne Williams-Iverson.
