In Remembrance: All pain and grief is over, all restless posing passed. You are now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last! Your memory is a keepsake with which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.

Mrs. Evelyn Lester Miller, affectionately known to family and friends as “Polly”, was born on July 15, 1942, in Byromville, Georgia to the late Fred Lester and Willie Maude Rackley Lester. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Polly dedicated more than 20 years of service as a dietitian at Flint River Community Hospital before retiring. In her role, she not only nourished patients with healthy meals but also uplifted them with her warm spirit, gentle encouragement, and genuine care. Her strong work ethic, compassion, and joyful presence left a lasting impression on colleagues, patients, and their families alike.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Miller, and six siblings, Freddie Mae Trice, Eva Lou Green, Albert Lester, James Lester, Arthur Lester, and Roosevelt Lester.

Polly’s legacy of love continues through her two daughters, Carolyn Lester and Dale Renee Lockhart, and her bonus daughter/niece, Valerie Trice. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Ezell Lester, Betty Waddell, Johnny B. Lester (Betty), and Annie Mae Lester. Her joy was multiplied in her role as “Grandma: blessing the lives of eight grandchildren: Michael Joiner, Kowalski Joiner (Shana), Jerramiyan Joiner, David Tremayne Joiner, Romeka Robinson (Chris), Edna Hunter (Chris), Adrian Hunter and Ebony Hunter; fourteen great-great children; and one precious great-great granddaughter, Aubrea, whom she cherished deeply. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own. She lovingly cared for many family members throughout her life, including her niece Mischa Trice and her nephew Hosea Trice, who held a special place in her heart.

Polly will be remembered for her laughter, her faith, and the unconditional love she gave so freely, her presence will be deeply missed, but her love will live in the hearts of all who knew her.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” - 1 Corinthians 13:13

My deepest sympathy to the family. We met at Flint River Hospital, she was like a second mom to me. She was always there to lift me up when I was down. We had many talks and she always had something to say that would me laugh. Family remember that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Take your rest. Heaven has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal 🙏.
