Mrs. Doris Bentley Chatman, age 65, 903 Barnard Street, Montezuma, Georgia passed Sunday morning, July 17, 2011 at her home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at First Salem Baptist Church, Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia.
Mrs. Chatman was born December 1, 1945 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Collin Bentley and Thelma Curgil Bentley. She was married to the late Charles Chatman. One niece, Joan Bentley, preceded her in death. She was a member of Universal Deliverance Church of Montezuma, Georgia.
She retired from Macon County Board of Education as a cook. She served as Co-Pastor of Universal Deliverance Church and also served on the Sick Committee.
Survivors are one son, Clifton Jackson, Montezuma, Georgia, four daughters, Nadine Jackson, Austell, Georgia, Beverly Smith (John) Americus, Georgia, Charlotte Nolton (Willie) Bonaire, Georgia and Yolanda Jackson, Montezuma, Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Marie Walker (George Jr.) Montezuma, Georgia, Mary Young, Montezuma, Georgia, Willie B. Williams, Orlando, Florida, Rebertha Weeks, Atlanta, Georgia, Georgia Spivey, Atlanta, Georgia, Lilla Bentley, Montezuma, Georgia; mother-in-law, Rosa M. Chatman, Cochran, Georgia; brother-in-law /sisters-in-law, William Chatman, Susanne Chatman, and Catherine Chatman, all of Cochran, Georgia; three godchildren, Catina Whitehead, Ideal, Georgia, NeQueva Harp, Montezuma, Georgia, and Juanita Mathis, Oglethorpe, Georgia; grandson she helped to rear, Tawan “T.J.” Shivers, Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
