The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at First Salem Baptist Church, 191 Twin Church Rd., Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in Harrison Chapel Church Cemetery, Tom Adam Road, Highway 224 Montezuma, Georgia.
Debra was born March 2, 1963 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to Emmett Smith and Annette Marie Martin Smith. She was a 1981 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School. She attended Fort Valley State University, where she pursued a degree in Early Childhood Development.
She was employed with Dooly County, Crisp County, and Macon County Head Start. At an early age she became a member of Harrison Chapel Baptist Church where she received her Christian training. She was over the Youth Department and church custodian.
Survivors are two children, Shemeka Dean, Warner Robins, Georgia and Maurice Smith, (Allegra) Montezuma, Georgia; her parents, Emmett and Annette Martin Smith, Montezuma, Georgia, two grandchildren, Eric Edmond and Ameenah Smith, both of Montezuma, Georgia; four siblings, Emmitt C. Smith and Danny Smith, (Lashunda), all of Montezuma, Georgia, Michele Smith, Warner Robins, Georgia and Micheal Smith (Katiece), Spanaway Washington; aunts and uncles, Roberta Stockner (James) and Mary Hill, all of Naples, Florida, Alice Carswell, (Charles), Tampa, Florida, Nissie Felton, Addie Mae Martin, Rudine Martin, Merlene Smith, Christine Hinton and Janie Mae Smith, all of Montezuma, Georgia, Pearlene Harvey, (Willie Gene), Rochester, New York, Lucille Cullers (Johnny), Florida, and Herman Smith, Dooly County, Georgia; great uncle, William Haugabook, Montezuma, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
