Deacon Robert Lee Mitchell, Jr.

Deacon Robert Lee Mitchell Jr., age 85, passed on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Inspirational Church By Faith, 714 Adderton Street (GA HWY 30), Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

Robert Lee Mitchell, Jr. was born September 27, 1933 to the late Arthur Jackson and the late Ella Mae Jones Jackson in Miami, Florida. He is preceded in death by a brother, Ira Lee Mitchell, and a sister, Pearl Mae Mitchell Pouncie. He was educated in the public system of Sumter County where he graduated from Staley High School, Americus, Georgia.  He was employed with the City of Americus Public Works Department where he worked faithfully for over thirty years before he retired.  He was joined in holy matrimony to the late Maggie Wilson Mitchell on June 27, 1969.  Robert was a member of Inspirational Church By Faith of Americus, Georgia. He became an ordained Deacon in 1986 under the leadership of the late Bishop John T. Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter, Elaine Mitchell, Smithfield, Rhode Island; three sons, Reggie Mitchell (Peggy), Atlanta, Georgia, Jonathan Mitchull, Coventry, Connecticut, and Minister Henry Wilson (Charlene), Americus, Georgia; grandchildren Khristy, Kristoria, Quantoria, Henry Jr., Jeannette, and Robert;  goddaughter, Ladona Taylor, Americus, Georgia; niece/caregiver, Lady Catherine and Pastor Alexander Williams, Warner Robins, Georgia; siblings  James Mitchell  (Joan), Wilbert Mitchell (Delois) all of Miami, Florida; sisters/brother-in-law, Annie Maude Daniels, Warner Robins, Georgia, Minister James Wilson (Minnie) Americus, Georgia, and Reba Wilson, Tampa, Florida, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including his personal caretaker Gussy Jackson (Andrew), Americus, Georgia.

I would like to send my condolences to the family of Mr Mitchell. I know losing a love one in death is very sad but we can all look forward to the time when the almighty God do away with all things that causes pain and suffering even death (Rev.21:3,4)tells us this.I am sorry for your loss

To the Mitchell, family sorry for your lost. Losing a love one is never easy. Psalms 34:15 gives hope because there's of God are on the righteous and his ears listen to their cry for help.
