The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such a high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Celessie was born November 16, 1941, to the late Charlie George Hillmon and the late Hattie Ellis Hillmon in Macon County Georgia. Celessie was educated at the Georgia School for the Deaf of Cave Spring, Georgia. She went on to graduate in the field of nursing and was later hired by the Flint River Hospital under the administration of the late Doctor Carl Savage for some forty years. After retiring, Celessie and her sister Shirley lived together, and Shirley soon became her caregiver until her demise.
Celessie was preceded in death by her parents and six adult siblings which include Mary Ann Hillmon Floyd, James Hillmon, Marvin Hillmon, John Hillmon, Johnny C. Hillmon and Rene H. Johnson and her sister-in-law, Margaret Hillmon.
She leaves to cherish her legacy, ten siblings, Gloria Hillmon Bennett, Rego Park, New York, Georgia Ann Hillmon, Gladys Hillmon of Atlanta, Georgia, Shirley Sue Hillmon, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Larry Hillmon (Betty Ann), Ideal, Georgia, Terry Hillmon (Barbara) Macon, Georgia, Eddie Hillman, Oglethorpe, Georgia, John Robert Hillmon, Johnny C. Hillmon and Rene Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
