Mrs. Carrie Kleckley Rackley, age 98, passed on January 21, 2024.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 27, 2024, at First Salem Baptist Church, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia.

Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.

Mrs. Carrie was a very dear friend of my grandmother Beatrice Roberts. I have always known her to be loving and kind to all , never without a smile. Keeping the family uplifted in prayer.

In loving memory of Carrie Kleckley Rackley, Going to miss Auntie dearly. She was not like any other human on this planet. She served her purpose here. Now she’s with all of our loved ones. Mountains move at the name, the name which we call Yeshua. Be blessed. Gods got you. During this time, reflect on all the good. Memories are what I like to call Gods hidden treasure. Just know she’s in a better space. Love and hugs.

Oh what a blessing to have known a great lady as Mrs. Carrie Rackley (Mrs. Velma) that’s the name I knew her as. She loved my grandmother Laura (Candy doll) my uncle Rev. Edward Marshall ( she was his spiritual mom. Every time she would see me she would always say come here Gal” give me a hug with your pretty long legged self. We would laugh so hard. She would always make my day when I would see her. When I would call her she would tell me your uncle Bo called, ( her spiritual son). She would not allow me to hang up the phone until she said something about Hubert, Buddy and her Spirtual son. Mrs Velma was an outstanding cook oh my goodness. If you stop to visit she always had good soul food and two or three different kinds of desserts just a down to earth person. I loved Mrs. Velma. When you would leave her home you would not have room I your stomach for water. You would be so full of all good eating. Sleep on Mrs. Velma take your rest , you have feed many and console many . She would have a lecture with you telling you how to treat people even if they do not treat you the same. Just a Godly Devine person a straight forward person, with a magnificent personality. Always humble , sharing consoling, caring, loving. Another soldier gone home to be with our good. Don’t you wish people like Mrs. Velma would be around forever. Yes! But God needed her also. Such a servant. Tell my grand mother candy-doll, aunt Claudia aunt Edith(dykes) she called her. My mother Alice Mae, mama Kate (especially ) Hello!!! rest well in you Heavenly Home. If any body make it there surely she will. Amen.
