​Benny Lee Sales, age 72, a native of Marion County, Georgia, entered his eternal rest on November 25, 2025. 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Josh Gibson Center, 20 Gibson Way, Buena Vista, Georgia. Interment will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.

​Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such a high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.

Benny Lee Sales was the son of the late Jasper Sales Sr. and Eula Mae Story Sales. He was a 1971 graduate of Marion County High School and dutifully served his country in the U.S. Army, in which he enlisted in 1973. After being honorably discharged, he decided to expand his education by enrolling at Atlanta Technical College where he majored in automotive engineering. He also contributed to society as an employee of Atlanta Gas Company as a meter reader. He retired from the company in 2008.

Early in life, he joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Tazewell, Georgia.

He was united in holy matrimony on December 19, 1975, to the former Justine Butts, and to this union, a son was born.

He was preceded in death by his great granddaughter: Kaleigh Grace Sales. He was also preceded by fifteen siblings: Matthew Sales, Marion Lockhart, Jasper Sales Jr., Maggie Maddox, Sallie Dunning, Rosie Stewart, Joseph Sales Sr., Major Morrison, Carrie Smith, Ola Mae Morrison, Irene Smith, O.C. Morrison, Ralph Morrison, Inez Morrison, and Clay Sales.

He leaves to mourn his memories his beloved wife of fifty years: Mrs. Justine Sales, Buena Vista, Georgia; one son: Tracy Sales (Shon), Lithonia, Georgia; two grandsons: Thomas J. Sales, Tifton, Georgia, and Chase A. Sales, Lithonia, Georgia, one brother: Elder Ray Sales, and his goddaughter, Shannon Danielly.

We are truly sorry for the loss of your Husband Benny. I can still remember some of our best days in High School. I'm sure for a union to last that long you're a couple that truly loved each other.
